Job Description – Pharmacy Technician

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Location: Manchester, Chester, Gloucestershire, Dudley

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician will support pharmacists by preparing, supplying, and managing medicines.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Dispense and supply medicines (both prescription and over-the-counter).
• Prepare medicines (including aseptic or complex formulations in hospitals).
• Manage stock and ordering of medicines.
• Supervise and train dispensers.
• Can carry out final accuracy checks (in some cases, if accredited).

Training:

• NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent).
• 2 years’ work-based experience.
• Must be registered with the GPhC.

Authority: Cannot prescribe but may check accuracy of prescriptions if accredited — still under the pharmacist’s legal responsibility.
